Aeroflot U.S Routes Plane Types and Cabin Experience!

did aeroflot get rid of first

Aeroflot is the flag carrier of Russia and is among the oldest airlines in the world. Many people don’t typically consider Russia as one of the top travel destinations, but it’s still a place to visit for niche tourism or professional reasons (job opportunities or conferences). Planning a journey to this country can be a bit challenging, as it requires you to go through a complex process of obtaining a visa. It gets more difficult when you try to arrange a trip with multiple connections, potentially leading to headache-causing situations.

The Aeroflot Airlines business class or economy class might not have the most modern or advanced seats or inflight amenities compared to other airlines. However, the main advantage that it offers is the direct flights to Moscow, which can save you time by avoiding layovers and connecting flights to other airlines.

More importantly, the airline uses a variety of aircraft on its U.S. routes (something that we are going to discuss on this page!). Understanding the Aeroflot U.S routes plane types will give you insight into what you can expect during your inflight journey!

Planes Operating Aeroflot Flights On US Routes

Even though Aeroflot represents the home country, it offers very few direct flights between Russia and the United States. However, each destination is operated by different Aeroflot U.S routes plane types. So, the information provided in the table below will list the limited number of options available where a type of plane travels directly between the two countries. For instance, Aeroflot flights from New York to Moscow, the airline uses 777-300ER plane type.

Seat Options and Cabin Experience of Aeroflot US Fleet

Just like any other fleet, the seat option and cabin experience vary by travel cabins. However, in most cases, you are going to get comfortable seats, in-flight entertainment, and amenity kits. We will be describing the inflight experience of business and premium economy cabins of Aeroflot aircraft that operate US flights.

Perhaps you’re questioning: Did Aeroflot get rid of first? Yes, the airline has removed first-class cabins from some of its planes operating flights to and from the United States.

        Aeroflot Russian Airlines Business Class

Don’t expect the Aeroflot Russian Airlines Business Class to be outstanding, but it still offers a comfortable experience to passengers flying across the Atlantic. It provides features like ample legroom, seats that recline almost completely flat (angled-flat on A330s, fully flat on 777-300ERs), delicious meals, and the ability to get a good sleep on direct flights to Russia.

The airline operates US flights via the operation of A330 family and 777-300ER variants. Out of the total Aeroflot flights from New York to Moscow, two are operated by the 777-300ER plane. Since the Moscow and US routes are not considered the busiest routes, the airline does not use the A330 for these flights.

So, when you are flying between NYC and Moscow with Aeroflot, passengers seated in 777-300ER Business Class will get access to the fully lie-flat seats arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. This implies that each row will have two seats on both sides with an aisle area in between. Though the seat width is only 22 inches, the generous legroom and bed length make it worth the experience.

When seated on Aeroflot A330-200 Business Class, the cabin will have 34 seats in total that recline to a near-flat position with a maximum angle of 166 degrees. It is enough to offer a comfortable sleeping space, as the seats are arranged in pairs, with two seats on each side of the aisle. The width of these seats is 26.7 inches, and there is 60 inches of space between rows. Plus, when you fully recline the seats, it offers a bed length of approximately 78 inches.

        Aeroflot Premium Economy Class Options

Passengers flying on Aeroflot Premium Economy Class have only one option of plane available, which is the Boeing 777-300ER, also known as the 773. This class is called Comfort Class in the airline’s term. The cabin will provide you with seats with a width size of 20 inches and a 38-inch pitch. So, the seats are wider than the average economy class, which is a plus point for passengers. However, the seat configuration is different from the above-mentioned planes; it offers the configuration of 2-4-2, with six total rows being offered.

The seats on the sides are the best for couples because it gives them the chance to have the entire row to themselves if they are seated together. In addition, the back seats in the premium economy cabins are the best for travelers who hate the noise and disruptions while airborne.

Aeroflot premium economy class provides a total of 207 seats in a 2-4-2 configuration on Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The main highlight of this cabin is the seats, which are 18 inches wider and have a pitch of 31 inches, bigger than average economy seats.

When you are flying in economy class, you are going to find the most desirable seats in the ‘exit’ row, as it offers plenty of leg space. However, keep in mind that row 11 is not an exit row but a “bulkhead” seat that has a wall in front, limiting the legroom.

Economy Class Cabin Option on Aeroflot

Last but not least, passengers get the economy cabin on the Aeroflot A330-300 when flying to and from the United States. This cabin has more economy seats, counting to 268, than other cabins. Though the width of the seats is the same, the legroom can be between 30 and 32 inches.

As per the best seats, 30 C, 30H, and the entire row 29 would be suitable, as these are located near the exit row. As usual, these seats will provide more legroom and a comfortable experience. However, you will be close to the lavatories, which might be inconvenient for some people.

        Final Words

All in all, Aeroflot is not as well-known to travelers as other airlines. However, if you are considering flying to Russia from the United States, consider flying Aeroflot, as it offers non-stop flights to/from US routes.

Though there is not a wide range of business class seat options, there are a few specific comfortable seats that these Aeroflot U.S routes plane types offer. However, you might not have a lot of choice for a premium economy class experience, but there are a couple of good “preferred” seats to look for depending on whether you’re traveling alone or with someone else.
